Shiitake Mushrooms have been enjoyed for thousands of years in Asia. They are extremely nutritious, and used to strengthen the immune system and improve overall well being. Shiitake Mushrooms are predominately grown in the forest on dead, hardwood trees such as oak, chestnut and beech. The word “Shiitake” comes from the chestnut tree, “shita”, and the Japanese word for mushroom “take”.

Shiitake Mushrooms are extremely rich in polysaccharides (beta-glucan) and lentinan, which can enhance the immune system and trigger its ability to naturally fight infection and disease.It has been reported that use of Shiitake Mushrooms can promote the growth of healthy flora in the gut.

This product has high antioxidant content and is also an anti-viral and anti-bacterial. An excellent source of B vitamins, vitamins C, vitamins D, minerals and fibers, this product is also rich in protein and contains all the essential amino acids. Shiitake Mushrooms have strong antimicrobial, antibacterial, anti-viral and antifungal properties and have been viewed as an essential food for anyone battling candida albicans and the harmful effects of certain bacteria. Shiitake Mushrooms contain beta glucans (polysaccharides) and enzymes that may improve the healthy functioning of the liver. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiitake Mushrooms are used to promote (qi) energy, address nutritional deficiencies (rich in vital nutrients), help with digestion and constipation and alleviate sexual dysfunction.

Shiitake is an outstanding edible fungus and contains about twice as much protein as most vegetables and are a good source of fiber. They are a good source of complex carbohydrates called polysaccharides, which are believed to boost the immune system. Shiitake mushrooms also contain iron, minerals, and vitamins B1 and B2, with relatively high amounts of niacin and riboflavin.
